Jetset Getset (JSGS) will return to Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill in Cincinnati for a three-hour concert tonight, January 23.
It will be the group's second appearance at Cincinnati's largest country-music nightclub, following their standing room-only album release concert in November. It will also mark the hometown debut of 13-year-old drumming sensation Gillian Bowman, who joined the teenage, Cincinnati-area band in December.
"We are thrilled to have Gillian Bowman with us," said Kelli Jette, founder and manager of Jetset Getset. "This band is an amazing group of talented singers and musicians, and Gily fits right in. She plays as well as most male drummers twice her age. I think a lot of people are going to be surprised, when they see what she can do."
Bowman, who has been studying drums and percussion since she was 4, resides in Boone County, Kentucky, a Cincinnati suburb. She is the Daughter of Ron and Kathy Bowman, owners of Bowman Music and Creative Outlet, an acclaimed music school in Burlington, Kentucky. She has been studying drums since the age of 4, under the direction of her father, who previously spent 20 years performing with national acts such as The Tokens ("The Lion Sleeps Tonight"), Leslie Gore ("It's My Party") and The Reflections ("Just Like Romeo and Juliet").
"I feel like I'm a better drummer because my dad has been able to show me many different things, at home or when we're traveling," Gillian said. "Both of my parents have inspired me. They are both on the worship team at my Church and they play almost every Sunday. They have encouraged me through all of my life."
Jetset Getset is also comprised of 15-year-old singers Tori Little, Avery Eliason and Sadie Loveland; guitarists Jason Owens (16), Justen Jette (15) and Paul Kelley (17); and keyboard player Terry Ranck, the only adult who performs with the band on a regular basis.
After performing primarily at fairs and festivals since 2011, Jetset Getset was discovered in 2012 by retired record producer and radio personality Jack Gale, who saw them performing on "The Shotgun Red Variety Show" on the Nashville-based RFD-TV network. Gale came out of retirement and reactivated his record company, Playback Records, to produce Jetset Getset's new album, "Saturday Night," with help from veteran Nashville producer Jim Pierce and some of Music City's leading studio musicians who have worked with such stars as Taylor Swift, Johnny Cash, Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire and others. The album is available through Amazon, iTunes, Google Music and other online sources.
Not surprisingly, Jetset Getset is starting to attract attention in the country music industry. They have appeared at Hard Rock Cafe Nashville, Balcony TV Nashville, and on Nashville's WSM 650AM. Recently, the website MusicNewsNashville.com compared Jetset Getset to a younger version of the Dixie Chicks, as did CMA award-winning country music presenter Brian Clough, host of England's "The American Connection" country music radio show.
Jetset Getset will perform 8:00-11:00 p.m. tonight, January 23 at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill, 145 2nd Street East, Cincinnati, OH 45202. All ages admitted until 10:00. No cover charge.
