MOTHERSHIP

BIO:
From: WA, United States Genre: Rock, Grunge, Mut, Alternative The Mothership has landed in Seattle, Washington. Bringing a palpable sense of reality to their own brand of space-grunge, they move to do it right from the start and never look back. The Mothership's members either fronted or played a major role in their own respective bands. The Mothership's four members share a sense of youth that permeates their music with energy and excitement. At the band’s core, strong lead vocals and tight arrangements are provided by Seattle front-men John Beckman and Paul Fraser. The sound is enhanced by burbling bass (Ryan Thornes), tumultuous drumming (Will Andrews) and an acknowledgment that the universe is a much larger place than just 'us'. This is the essence of The Mothership. The sound of The Mothership can be described somewhat as a flux capacitor-loaded DeLorean that can only travel back as far as the mid 1960's but can push as far forward in the future as it wants. Taking influences from The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, King Crimson and mashing them together with the sonic styling of former Seattle icons Nirvana and Soundgarden is the chassis of their ship. Built-on is the body, a piercing yet familiar sound that is focused enough to grab casual listeners. Gritty vocals and lyrics come from a place of reality, devoid of the buzzwords and clichés of today's radio rock. Adding spacey, sludgy and ambient tones to their engine is what allows their sound to travel to many places. The Mothership recorded a strong three song EP at Houdini’s Tree Studios in Seattle in early 2011 with producer David Green. The Mothership will be feverishly writing and playing West Coast shows through 2011.
