"2013 mtvU Woodie Awards" - starting at 7:20 p.m. CT on March 14 in Austin, Texas
German EDM producer/DJ/songwriter Zedd will close the 2013 "mtvU Woodie Awards" with his hit "Clarity," the title track off his chart topping debut album which reached #1 on the iTunes Dance Chart and was the biggest first week for a dance artist's album in the last 10 years. As one of MTV's 2013 Artists to Watch and a 2013 "Breaking Woodie" nominee, Zedd has separated himself in a crowded field by drawing from a diverse musical training and background spanning from classical to post-hardcore/metal to electro house in order to make meticulously detailed and carefully produced compositions.
Zedd first made waves with a series of well-received remixes of tracks by Skrillex, The Black Eyed Peas, Fatboy Slim, and Lady Gaga. In 2011, Zedd remixed Lady Gaga's tracks "Born This Way" and "Marry the Night" and appeared on her special edition second album, "Born This Way." In 2012, Zedd signed with Interscope Records and produced the track "Beauty and a Beat" with Max Martin for Justin Bieber's third album. He recently appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman where he turned his signature style upside down performing a stripped down version of "Clarity" showcasing his classical training by playing piano alongside a string quartet and vox from Foxes. The performance is a prime example of Zedd's true musicianship beyond the realm of EDM. Zedd will join previously announced "Woodie Awards" performers Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and twenty one pilots.
