Z-Machine has officially begun production on their upcoming documentary BEFORE THE END: JIM MORRISON COMES OF AGE, according to Deadline.
The independent film "follows the trajectory of Jim Morrison's development, prior to his rock superstardom." Rather than portray him as some sort of rock god, the men of Z-Machine, Jeff and Jess Finn, have set out to paint the singer in a more human light. The film will feature exclusive interviews with those close to Morrison, as well as home movies and photographs. Those featured in the film include brother Andy Morrison, former girlfriends, previous professors, and college friends and acquiantances.
The documentary will primarily follows Morrison's younger years, his poetry and other works of art, as well as his "controversial legacy riddled with unanswered questions and misinterpretations," remaining from his untimely death at the age of 27.
As of now, no release date or distribution deal has not been announced by the studio.
