Legendary underground performer Raven O is reinventing himself with a new single and music video, both of which point to a darker side of the NYC club scene that made his name. The single, "My Friend," is a moody goth-rock piece that adds a note of despair to the performer's trademark crooning. The accompanying video, Raven's first, amplifies this melancholy tone with dizzying camerawork and a number of gritty urban scenes. In his own words: "It's a commentary on the decades I spent as a creature of the night."
"My Friend" was written by Raven O and his two collaborators, The Pious (Scott Meola of Saints + Lovers and Kenyon Phillips of Roma!). The video was directed and produced by Brian Deutzman (Coup de Coeur, Cannes Short Film Corner).
