Friends premiered their new video for "Va Fan Gör Du" today at Stereogum. Translated from Swedish as "what the hell are you doing?" 'Va Fan Gör Du' maintains the punky swagger of 'I'm His Girl' with Samantha Urbani and co calling out "Hey, who do you think I am? Some chick on the street, some piece of meat that you wanna holler at."
"Va Fan Gör Du" is the band's newest single off of their heralded, self-produced debut album, Manifest!, released by Fat Possum Records on June 5th.The album is a collection of fun/funky/danceable pop hits, with powerful lyrical themes touching on polyamory, anarchism, empowerment of the individual, being wary of the government and media, existential awe, etc. Manifest! was hailed by The New York Times as"one of the year's most breathless debuts." Publications from Dazed and Confused to The London Times all agree that if there "is to be one more band from Brooklyn then it should be Friends."
