De Montfort Music has inked a deal with The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist. The label, representing beauty through music, has just wrapped the first part of an album featuring the voices of the popular Ann Arbor, MI based religious community. This marks the first official recording for the young and vibrant order of women religious.
The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist are not unfamiliar with intersecting their gifts in the popular culture. They have been featured several times on mainstream television and radio sharing their vocation and charism, including several episodes of "The Oprah Winfrey Show."
"To say we are honored and thrilled for this providential collaboration is an understatement," says Monica Fitzgibbons, COO of De Montfort Music. "We have been bestowed with a great privilege to be able to work with the sisters, who are so accomplished in their many pursuits. We are thrilled that they have agreed to document their beautiful music, which until now, has been sung privately in their chapel. We are eager to now share it with the world."
Sr. Joseph Andrew, OP Vicaress General of The Dominican Sisters of Mary had this to say about the new arrangement: "When De Montfort Music approached us about recording our music, we were very excited. Music has always been part of the daily life of our Religious Community, as a unique way of expressing our deep love of The Lord, and we always hoped to make it more widely available so that others could, by it, be drawn into their own deeper love of God. This also provided us an opportunity to make accessible some original pieces that we have written and arranged in hopes to further share our Dominican Spirit through the gift of song."
