Witness the majestic tradition of the The Pipes and Drums of the Black Watch 3rd Battalion, the Royal Regiments of Scotland, and the Band of the Scots Guards, at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall on March 24, 2013. Having been involved in all major British military campaigns since the Guards inception, the Scots Guard is steeped in the glorious history of the British Isles for the last 371 years. The Band itself, composed of over 40 musicians today, was instrumental in maintaining the well-being of the troops across multiple theaters of war, serving as a significant boost to the morale of the battle hardened warriors. The Band doubled as a patriotism boosting strategy, as their heroic sound and valiant décor inspired many to voluntarily enlist. Today the band tours the world as a tribute to the honor and bravery of the British Military. This vibrant performance will showcase the traditional music and beautiful dances of the British Isles, and will remind the viewer of the bravery of all men and women of the armed forces. Additionally, the pipe band from Sarasota's own Sarasota Military Academy will perform as a special guest.
Tickets are priced from $10-$55. For more information, call the Box Office at 941-953-3368, or toll free 800-826-9303, or visit www.VanWezel.org.
