The Barns at Wolf Trap Performances: February 14-16

New York City all-female group Red Molly returns to The Barns At Wolf Trap to deliver their polished covers and original arrangements, featuring bluegrass harmonies, crooning lullabies, and a Western twang. Reaping the success of their 2011 release Light in the Sky, members Laurie MacAllister, Abbie Gardner, and Molly Venter perform weekly at festivals and venues alike, sharing their rosy, lighthearted folk ballads with devoted fans. Preceding Light in the Sky, Red Molly released four studio albums, including James (2010) which landed the No. 4 spot on the Americana Top 40 chart. Next on tap, the women of Red Molly will jet set across Australia for a five-week tour, beginning in March.

The Steel Wheels

The Steel Wheels, of the Blue Ridge Mountains region of Virginia, will join Red Molly with an opening live set of energetic, bluegrass acoustics and indigenous mountain sounds. The Steel Wheels' dedication to both tradition and innovation has led the band to garner five nominations at the Independent Music Awards. In 2010 The Steel Wheels released their groundbreaking album, Red Wing, which landed a 13-week spot on the Americana Music Association Top 40 radio charts and placed No. 70 on the 2010 Americana albums. The Steel Wheels are also known for their annual SpokeSongs bicycle tour through the mountains of Virginia, where band members ride their bikes-with instruments and equipment in tow-between concerts.
