Sultans of String to Celebrate MOVE CD Release at Bridge Street Live, 3/13

Sultans of String, who are touring widely in support of their new and aptly-titled CD, MOVE. They hit Collinsville's Bridge Street Live on Wed March 13, a day after an invitation by the legendary CHIEFTAINS to open for them at the Palace Theatre in Stamford.

Known for dizzying world music jams, polyrhythms and revved up riffs, Sultans of String can't be pinned down -- it's Sable Island meets the Silk Road, with detours through the Gypsy-Jazz coffeehouses of Eastern Europe, next an East Coast Kitchen Party, then over to the majestic Arctic.

The band was just nominated for the SiriuxXM Canadian Indies, hot on the heels of their 2012 CFMA win. They have a robust tour schedule south of the border, and have performed at jazz hotspots, Birdland and Scullers, as well as the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival. The guys are in the final stages of mixing their debut symphony cd (an eclectic journey of classical, jazz, and world) and already have bookings with 8 symphony orchestras for their release tour.

"Canada's ambassadors of musical diversity" include 6-string violinist Chris McKhool (Pavlo), guitar Kevin Laliberté (Jesse Cook, guested on tour with The Chieftains) and bass master Drew Birston (Chantal Kreviazuk).
