The SF Gay Men's Chorus has released two concert videos of its Christmas Eve shows at the Castro Theater (this past Monday on Dec 24), one of them featuring a clever and funny Broadway and Christmas mash-up arranged by Kevin Robinson, "A Broadway Christmas", and the other "North Pole Rock & Roll." Click below to watch!
"Broadway Christmas" is a medley mash-up of christmas songs and Broadway Favorites from Les Miserables, Wicked, Rent, 42nd Street, Phantom and Into The Woods. One of the crowd Favorites of the evening filled with hilarious re-enactments generating lots of laughs and smiles.
"North Pole Rock & Roll" is the chorus' show-ending number of 175 Santa's and Elves dancing together with so much energy and excitement that it made people dance along in their seats and jump up with rousing applause at the end.
The chorus sings on Christmas Eve at the Castro Theater in San Francisco as an on-going tradition, which started as a "Home For The Holidays" event over 20 years ago, to welcome concertgoers into a home of song and harmony, particularly for those who may not have another home to go to during the holidays. This tradition has evolved over the years to the point that the chorus now performs three times on Christmas Eve. This is the first year that the chorus sold out all three shows beforehand, entertaining around 4,000 concert-goers throughout the evening.
