Blending jazz from the streets and music halls and clubs of New Orleans and beyond with bluegrass from rural festivals, school auditoriums and more restrained settings, American Legacies presents two giants of traditional American music-the Del McCoury Band and The Preservation Hall Jazz Band-in one spirited stream of deliciously inviting, boldly innovative and yet profoundly familiar music. Don't miss these two legendary bands, appearing at The Mahaffey Theater on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m.
Together in concert, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and the Del McCoury Band create a seamless blend of soul-lifting traditional harmonies as the high and lonesome sound of the Appalachians meets the hot and lively jazz of New Orleans. Fresh off a fruitful recording collaboration, as well as a joint performance at Pete Seeger's 90th birthday celebration in Madison Square Garden, these American Musical Legacies are taking their show on the road. Audiences will thrill to this very special opportunity to Witness the coming together of two legendary groups of musicians from two distinctly American musical lineages.
Ricky P's Orleans Bistro will offer an exclusive pre-event buffet, bringing a taste of New Orleans to the Mahaffey Theater atrium. Beginning at 6 p.m., enjoy:

Mini Muffalettas - a New Orleans traditional Italian meat sandwich with our homemade green olive salad in a mini version.
