Photo Coverage: The Broadway Musicals of 1948 @ Town Hall

Grammy Award-winner and platinum-selling recording artist Melissa Manchester joined the cast of The Town Hall's Broadway Musicals of 1948 on Monday, March 22. Continuing the 10th Anniversary celebration of The Town Hall's Broadway by the Year ® concert series, Manchester joined the cast of musical theater performers celebrating shows that graced Broadway stages in 1948, including Cole Porter's classic Kiss Me Kate and Frank Loesser's Where's Charley?. The show was hosted, created and written for The Town Hall by Scott Siegel.

The evening featured songs including "So In Love," "Where Is The Life That Late I Led, "Were Thine That Special Face," and "Too Darn Hot," from Kiss Me Kate; "Once In Love With Amy," from Where's Charley?; "Mr. Right," from Love Life; "Schraffts," from Make Mine Manhattan; "Haunted Heart" from Inside USA; and "Neurotic You and Psychopathic Me" from Lend Me and Ear, among others.

The cast of singers and dancers included: Jeff McCarthy (Urinetown), Bobby Steggert (Ragtime, Yank!), Jeffry Denman (White Christmas), William Michals (South Pacific), Noah Racey (Curtains), Erin Denman (42nd Street), Josh Grisetti (Enter Laughing) and the Grammy Award winning opera singer John Easterlin. Broadway Musicals of 1948 will be directed by Stuart Ross (Forever Plaid), and musical directed by Ross Patterson.

Built in 1921 by a group of suffragettes, The Town Hall began as a lecture hall and public forum for debates. Over the decades, the stage has been graced by Eleanor Roosevelt, Margaret Sanger, Billie Holiday, Igor Stravinsky, Bob Dylan and Miles Davis. Today the hall flourishes as a popular, affordable venue, boasting the hottest acts in rock, pop, folk, cabaret, world music, opera, comedy and dance, including Robin Williams, Don Rickles, Renee Fleming, Billy Joel, Elvis Costello, Natalie Merchant, Graham Nash, Liza Minnelli, Norah Jones, Andre Watts, Henry Rollins, Joe Jackson, Pink Martini, Regina Spector, Brian Adams, and the Dhali Lama. For over a decade, The Town Hall has hosted live broadcasts of Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion. Over the past two-and-a-half decades, The Town Hall has produced a number of new and critically acclaimed musical series, which include The Century of Change, Not Just Jazz, Broadway By The Year® and The Broadway Cabaret Festival.
