The South by Southwest (SXSW) week continues with so many more experiences and opportunities awaiting music aficionados. As you walk about the
Austin Convention Center, you are struck by the variety of people participating in this enormous event. There are people of all ages, ethnicities and personalities. There are families with small children, grown up children with their parents and friends hanging out together. It's as electric as the music being played all over
Austin this week.
And today was a special day for a lot of SXSW attendees. Depeche Mode is famous for such songs as "Strangelove" and Personal Jesus." Band members Martin Gore, Dave Gahan, and Andy Fletcher sat down and discussed their soon to be released new album, "Delta Machine" and their upcoming tour. As they spoke, it was easy to see why they have remained together for so many years. Despite their differences over the past 30 plus years, there is definitely a strong bond and connection. Martin spoke of the writing process when he creates new songs and Dave deferred to him as he explained how the music came about. It's great to see a band that has stayed strong and united for so many years.
The rest of the week continues to bring great events and performers. Stevie Nicks will be interviewed, Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters will be the keynote speaker tomorrow and Green Day will perform on Friday, March 15th. Also scheduled are many indie bands that you can check out at the bars nearby. Be sure to check out the website http://www.sxsw.comand remember to keep Austin Weird.
