In today's New York Post, Mötley Crüe's Nikki Sixx spoke about his upcoming Broadway musical The Heroin Diaries. Teased the rock star, "It's not gonna be 'Mamma Mia!' The show is based on Sixx's autobiography 'The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star.'

"We're moving quickly but are not close to casting," revealed Sixx. Last year, he told BBC that he intends for the show to open in "late 2013 or early 2014." The source material is his autobiography he released in 2007 which chronicled 1986 to 1987, the year in his life where he succumbed to heroin and cocaine and includes views from the people who witnessed the plummet. Each chapter is linked to a month in the year of his life with an introduction and afterword. The Heroin Diaries was accompanied by a soundtrack from Sixx:AM, Sixx's other band, featuring 13 songs, each also based on a month in his personal journal. The book entered the New York Times Best Seller List at number seven.

Sixx is best known as the co-founder and bassist of the band Mötley Crüe. In 2000 he formed side project group 58 with Dave Darling, Steve Gibb and Bucket Baker issuing one album, titled Diet for a New America, the same year while in 2002 he formed the hard rock supergroup Brides of Destruction with L.A. Guns guitarist Tracii Guns.

Formed in 2006, initially to record an audio accompaniment to Sixx's autobiography The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star, his side band Sixx:A.M. features songwriter and producer and vocalist James Michael and guitarist DJ Ashba.

Sixx has also worked with a number of artists and groups, co-writing and/or producing songs, such as Sex Pistols's guitarist Steve Jones, Lita Ford, Alice Cooper, Meat Loaf,Marion Raven, Drowning Pool,Saliva and The Last Vegas among others.

Premiere Radio Networks launched nationally syndicated rock/alternative music radio programs "Sixx Sense" and "The Side Show Countdown" with both hosted by Sixx and co-hosted by Kerri Kasem.
