Marissa Mulder's stunning foray into the music and poetry of Tom Waits is coming back. The show that Stephen Holden called "far and away the season's best cabaret show" returns to the Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22nd Street, on Tuesday May 7 at 9:30pm and Wednesday May 8 at 7pm.

Mulder's daring journey into the dark, thorny and ofter hilarious world of this iconic American rocker, is directed by Lauren Fox, with music direction by Jon Weber.Stephen Hanks in broadwayworld.comcalls it,"One of the bravest, gutsiest performances one can experience!" Rob Lester, in Nitelifeexchange.com, says Mulder is "mature, mercurial, masterful!"

Weber, on piano, leads a trio that includes Ritt Henn on bass and Mike Rosengarten on guitar.

"Tom... in His Words" world premiered on Wednesday March 27.

In "Tom... in His Words" Mulder, 28, opens up Waits classics ("Downtown Train" and "Ol' 55") as well as some lesser-known treasures like "Broken Bicycles" and "Alice." All along the way, the sensuous singer doesn't so much as reinvent Waits, as she recharges the 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee's strange mixture of rock, jazz and the blues (and even vaudeville) with a current that while different, couldn't be more true.

The 2011 MetroStar Talent Challenge winner made her cabaret debut in 2010 at Don't Tell Mama, followed that with her critically acclaimed tribute to songwriter Jimmy Van Heusen in 2011. Her break-out major engagement at the Metropolitan Room in 2012, "Illusions," directed by singer Karen Oberlin, made clear that Mulder's talent is no illusion.

Mulder's music charge is $20. For reservations call 212/206-0440 or to order online visit www.metropolitanroom.com.
