Lynn Miles and More Set for The Royal Conservatory's Bluebird North Series, 2/23

On February 23, the Conservatory Theatre at The Royal Conservatory will once again be the setting for the popular Bluebird North series. During these entertaining evenings, top Canadian songwriters come together with host Blair Packham to perform their music and share the inspiration for their songs as well as insights into the songwriting process. This installment features Juno Award-winning Lynn Miles, multi-instrumentalist Fergus Hambleton, and Tom Wilson, a rock musician of Blackie and the Rodeo Kings and Junkhouse fame.

Miles began writing songs at the age of 10 and performing at the age of 16. Her 2001 album, Unravel, won the 2003 Juno Award for Best Roots & Traditional Album of the Year: Solo. She has re-recorded many of her early songs with simple acoustic arrangements in a series she called Black Flowers (the title of a song she wrote originally for the Unravel album). The latest Volume was released in August 2012. A fixture on the Canadian music scene for the last four decades, Hambleton is a versatile singer, songwriter, and composer. During his career, he has been a leading performer and songwriter in the folk, pop, and reggae music arenas. Fronting the Juno Award-winning reggae outfit Sattalites and a successful solo career are among his many musical achievements. Numerous Tom Wilson songs have been used in television, commercials, and motion pictures, and one of his most recent projects includes LeE HARVey OsMOND, which is a collaborative effort with members of Cowboy Junkies and Skydiggers.

Bluebird North is presented in partnership with the Songwriters Association of Canada (S.A.C.). The S.A.C. gratefully acknowledges the support of The SOCAN Foundation and the Government of Canada through the Creators' Assistance Component of the Canada Music Fund.

Bluebird North will take place on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 8pm in Conservatory Theatre. Tickets are $25. All concerts take place at The Royal Conservatory's TELUS Centre for Performance and Learning, 273 Bloor Street West, Toronto. Tickets are available online at www.performance.rcmusic.ca, by calling 416.408.0208, or in person at the Weston Family Box Office.
