Sasha Allen

TONIGHT at 7:30pm

SOLD OUT

Respected by many as one of the great voices of her generation, Sasha Allen brings a dynamic showcase to Joe's Pub in what will be her 1st solo show in NYC in 7 years. Sasha Allen is an American singer and actress with a career in the entertainment industry that spans over 10 years. Allen has made a career as a backing vocalist for the music industry's biggest stars, including Grammy Award winners Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Babyface, Usher, John Legend, and pop star Leona Lewis. Sasha played "Dionne" in the Tony Award winning revival of the hit Broadway show "HAIR: The American Tribal Love Rock Musical" at the Al Hirschfield Theatre in New York City, and continued with the original American cast to the Gielgud Theatre on the West End in London.

Ryan Raftery KING OF THE JEWS

TONIGHT at 9:30pm

$20

Ryan Raftery returns to Joe’s Pub this summer with his fourth solo show, “Ryan Raftery KING OF THE JEWS”. Described as “Hilarious” by the New York Observer, “Persistently irreverent” by Time Out, “Dietrich…with balls” by author Christopher Ciccone “Life With My Sister Madonna”, and “Kinda pitchy” by Marc Shaiman (composer, “Smash”, “Hairspray”), audiences have come to love Raftery’s hilarious parodies and interpretations of pop songs, musicals and rock classics alike.

JARED EVAN

August 28 at 9:30pm

$12

New York native and hip-hop artist Jared Evan makes his Joe’s Pub debut on Tuesday, August 28 at 9:30 PM to celebrate the release of his new EP 4th Chapter. Winner of the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival's Spit 16 competition curated by the Source Magazine, Evan has toured with Lupe Fiasco and takes his musical cues from classic rock, soul and seminal hip-hop artists such as Wu Tang Clan, Mos Def, The Roots, Kool G Rap, Tribe, KRS One, Lauryn Hill and DJ Premier. Jared Evan grew up playing the drums, hoping for the chance to one day become the next Keith Moon. With an introduction to music at an unusually young age, he found himself discovering and listening to artists that were way before his time. Gradually, Evan became heavily influenced by old-school hip hop and rock legends such as Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Al Green, Sublime, James Brown, Radiohead and others.

VERONICA KLAUS SINGS THE Peggy Lee SONGBOOK

W/SPECIAL GUEST Joey Arias

August 29 at 7:30pm

$20

Veronica Klaus delves into the amazingly broad songbook of the inimitable Miss Peggy Lee and brings her own sultry, smoky soulful style to some favorites and some lesser known gems from the Lee songbook, with the Tammy Hall Trio backing her, this is a great night of music for fans of jazz and the immortal Peggy Lee! This show will feature a guest appearance by Joey Arias.

TORI SCOTT

AUGUST 29 at 9:30pm

$15

Belter and bad decision expert Tori Scott returns after a sold out debut in July, with an evening of songs ranging from Judy Garland to Cee Lo Green. She has graced the stages of The Duplex, the Laurie Beechman, the Metropolitan Room, and every gay bar on the Eastern Seaboard; on television, she's counted to 20 as a singing garbage woman on Sesame Street and dubbed the vocals of a singing hooker on HBO's "Cathouse: The Musical." Now, she brings Joe's Pub her signature mix of stories, standards, and songs that were already on her iPod and didn't seem like they'd be that hard to learn.

ANNIE AND THE BEEKEEPERS W/ SPECIAL GUEST WILSEN

AUGUST 30, 7:00pm

$12 Advance / $15 Door

Annie and The Beekeepers formed in Boston's notoriously brutal December of 2006. The stillness and simplicity of New England's slow-paced winter resonates in the evolving sound created by the band, now located in Brooklyn, NY. The nationally touring band has shared stages with such admirable musicians as Josh Ritter, Justin Townes Earle, Nathaniel Rateliff, Dr Dog's Scott McMicken, Joe Pug and The Low Anthem. They have performed at NYC's Town Hall and Bowery Ballroom, Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, Boston's Berklee Performance Hall, and have had the pleasure of playing at such notable festivals such as SXSW, Philadelphia Folk Festival, Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion, and Boston Folk Festival as well as the UK's End of the Road Festival. On August 28th, Annie and The Beekeepers will release their next highly-anticipated full length album, My Bonneville.

THE SNOW / C. GIBBS

AUGUST 30, 9:30pm

$15

The Snow is a cinematic literary-pop quartet from Brooklyn, New York led by Pierre de Gaillande (Bad Reputation, Melomane, Morning Glories) and Hilary Downes. The Snow's influences are as diverse as its sound – having been described in turns as post-apocalyptic French cabaret, gypsy pop, and carnival Americana. Their third record, Disaster is Your Mistress, is “an urbane and witty new album that revels in its love for Beatles-esque harmonies and cynical lyrics.” (The New Yorker). Veteran engineer Charles ‘Chicky’ Reeves (Radiohead, Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, Tito Puente) navigates haunting classical flourishes, Motown horns and Beatlesque pop soundscapes to take the listener on an unexpected sonic journey. Think of Serge Gainsbourg hitching a ride with Carole King and Fiona Apple in a boat atop rolling rapids of champagne. A Brooklyn based songwriter by way of San Diego, Christian Gibbs has released over 10 albums under the names Lucinda Black Bear, C.Gibbs, The Droves and Morning Glories. His projects have flirted with many different genres from indie Chamber Psych Folk to the Darker leanings of Americana and have been praised in the New York Times, Rolling Stone Magazine, NBC News, and other notable publications. His current project, Lucinda Black Bear, was featured on NPR's "All Songs Considered. (#4 on NPR's Top 10). He was also the lead guitarist / keyboardist in the critically acclaimed Broadway Musical Passing Strange and was in the Spike Lee movie of the same name. Gibbs began his rock and roll career at 20 when he arrived in London for a semester abroad, answered a help wanted ad for a guitarist and promptly fled college to assume employment as Modern English’s guitarist. The young man’s parental nightmare subsequently took him to posts playing with Jim Thirlwell’s Foetus, fronting New York rock trio Morning Glories and settling into a solo career signing to Atlantic for one album. He has opened for/shared the stage with Margaret Cho, John Mellencamp, Akron Family, Son Volt, John Doe, The Damned, Little Richard and many more. He is currently working on an all-acoustic album due for release later this year.
