In celebration of the album, Lidell will embark on a world tour kicking off in London on March 8. The tour will include stops in France, Germany and Turkey before making its way to the U.S. Please see tour dates below.
The first track off the album, "What a Shame," recently premiered on YouTube here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQxGnSqxTyA&feature=youtu.be. Pitchfork named the song a "Best New Track," hailing it as "a bright burst of kaleidoscopic color...a positively mean makeup of big, booming bass and squelchy synths that glisten and gleam underneath Lidell's high-octane whine," and Stereogum praised Lidell's "honeyed falsetto all over a wriggling post-dubstep drunken monster of a track." Known for bringing together disparate musical influences, Jamie Lidell cites Mtume, Cameo, New Jack Swing, Bobby Brown and George Clinton as inspirations for the new release saying "I referenced a lot of the analogue synth tones of the records I really love." The album was recorded and mixed in Lidell's new recording studio in his new home in Nashville, where the he recently moved after stints in Berlin and New York.
Born and raised in England, Jamie Lidell debuted in 1997 with the EP Freekin the Fame. The upcoming recording is the fifth full-length release from the critically acclaimed artist, whose previous records have been praised by the New York Times as "exceedingly precise and lovely," including 2008's Jim, which was named Best Pop/Rock Album by the Independent Music Awards. In addition to his solo albums, Lidell has released music with producer Cristian Vogel under the name Super Collider. He has also collaborated with artists including Feist, Simian Mobile Disco, Beck, Matthew Herbert, Chris Taylor, James Gadson and Gonzalez.
