Flobots Announce US Tour, New Album Out 8/28

Flobots-Announce-US-Tour-New-Album-Out-828-20010101

The socio-political activists and high-energy musicians of FLOBOTS have announced a national tour surrounding the release of their newest album, The Circle In The Square (Shanachie Records/release date: August 28, 2012). Kicking off on September 14, 2012 in Missoula, MT, the tour sees the powerhouse of a band playing cities across the US throughout September and October before returning to their hometown of Denver, CO to close out the run (tour dates below).

Written, recorded and produced entirely by the band themselves, their upcoming full-length The Circle In The Square showcases Flobots as a band that is firmly in touch with the profound economic, political and social transformations taking place around the world today. "Our agenda is to create music that is true to who we are as people and that includes our experiences, our communities and our world," explains emcee/vocalistJonny 5. "When you have friends who are personally affected by marriage discrimination or immigration policy, it makes you want to say something about these issues." Flobots have become known as an outspoken band who weaves rock, rap, classical music, political observations and philosophical opinions into a dynamic, creative tapestry of songs.

The video for their first single, “The Circle In The Square” premiered on Huffington Post and can be seen at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=958IDn8Nh1A. Says Jonny 5 of it, "We had a ton of fun making this video. That was actually very important to us. Right now in both music and society, there's a weird artificial line drawn between living it up and giving a shit. But the truth is, you can do both. To live life fully means to engage with the world around you. It means to make beauty more plentiful to more souls on this planet, to transform systems of oppression into mechanisms of liberation. It means bringing people together and exploding with color. It's a movement that appeals to everyone. That's what we want to say with this video."

Formed in Denver, CO when a pair of intelligent, visionary emcees joined focuses with a powerful rhythm section and a classically-trained violist, Flobots fused disparate interests and styles of music to create a potent combination that brings together live hip-hop, strings-laden breakbeats and symphonic rock-infused crescendos that has earned them a reputation for both originality and authenticity. Written during the height of the Iraq war, their mega-hit “Handlebars” thrust them into the spotlight, earning the band a #3 position on Billboard’s “Modern Rock Tracks” chart.
