The Franklin Performing Arts Company presents a Culinary Cabaret on Friday, March 9, from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. at Clarke, The Ultimate Kitchen Resource Center, 393 Fortune Boulevard in Milford. The evening features inspired cuisine and creative cooking demonstrations by area chefs and culinarians, wine tastings, and entertainment by Electric Youth and FPAC special guest artists. Culinary Cabaret supports Electric Youth, an elite ensemble of talented singer-dancers trained at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA), and their 2012 European concert tour.
Electric Youth members serve as American youth ambassadors while presenting concerts domestically and abroad. EY performances on the 2012 15-concert tour of Austria and Italy include a return Fourth of July engagement at Aviano Air Force Base to entertain U.S. Troops and families stationed abroad.
EY members who participated in the ensemble's 2010 European tour recalled the Aviano concert as a performance and tour highlight. The set list, including such patriotic favorites as God Bless America and familiar American pop and rock classics, struck a chord with the military families. "It made you feel like you were back home," said Hopkinton's Michael Egan, a 6-year EY member. "For me, the concert is a special way to give back for the service to our country the Troops are providing overseas." Franklin's Ali Funkhouser, in her third year with EY, described the breathtaking fireworks following the performance as a perfect way to cap off a memorable and fitting Independence Day celebration with our Troops.
"EY's Fourth of July concert for our Troops at Aviano Air Force Base resonates with me," says Rodney Poles, Marketing and Community Relations Manager, Whole Foods Market. "My uncle worked at the Base as a carpentry and woodworking teacher for the Troops. My family lives ten miles from there and I visited often as a child. I am proud to support EY and partner with FPAC in the launch of Culinary Cabaret, an exciting culinary and performing arts showcase. I am especially pleased that Whole Foods Market is present at the beginning for what should become a signature, destination event in our region for years to come."
