DEADMAU5 & IMOGEN HEAP Release New Single, 'Telemiscommunications'

Out today, Tuesday, March 12 via Ultra Music, deadmau5 & Imogen Heap's single "Telemiscommunications" is a delicate melancholic song that is a very different direction for the mau5 which sees him drop the tempo dramatically. It is co-produced with Imogen Heap featuring her signature lyrics and melody and as the closing track on his latest album, > album title goes here <, one voice of a phone conversation between two lovers is heard. Whether it's a battle with bad signal, public announcements or kids screaming, the friction develops during their precious little time to talk.

In wanting to extend the creative vision for this release, a global competition was set up to search for budding animators. 20 individuals were selected with each animator taking ownership over their own segment, working in their own style and medium. These were then edited together to produce a remarkable visual to accompany the song. deadmau5 and Imogen Heap will be hosting a Google+ Hangout today, March 12 at noon pm EST (11am CST), where they will talk about their collaboration face to face for the first time. TELEMISCOMMUNICATIONS will feature remixes from Crookers, Copy Paste Soul, John Roman and Kölsch. Italian artist, Crookers, speed things up, serving up a series of sparse vocal stabs with a side order of tough house beats. Kompakt artist, Kölsch, also ups the tempo, but his is a much deeper affair that juggles Imogen's vocals deftly with his hypnotic rhythms. London based producer, Copy Paste Soul, transforms the track into a soul quenching deep house/bass number that should please UK dancefloors. Finally, Canadian upstart, John Roman delivers a stripped back tribal techno version, reducing Imogen's vocals to a haunting hum on its verses.

Meanwhile, today deadmau5 can be found in Austin, TX at SXSW where he is participating as a panelist with Richie Hawtin for deadmau5 & Richie Hawtin: Talk. Techno. Technology, which sees both artists discuss their careers with a huge focus on innovations in technology and the power of social media. The pair will follow later tonight with a one time performance together at the Media Temple official SXSWi Closing Party at Stubb's. This weekend look for him to return to the main stage of Ultra Music Festival for his first major appearance of 2013 on Saturday, March 16 and again on Saturday, March 23.
