The frenzy continues to build as 19-year-old pop powerhouse Cher Lloyd prepares to drop her US debut, Sticks + Stones, today Oct. 2. With a new single, "Oath" ft. Dr. Luke's Sony/RCA newest signing, Becky G, and a new video shot in LA by Hannah Lux Davis set to premiere next week, Cher's poised to become America's newest (and sassiest) pop star.
Cher takes over television during the first week of October on an unprecedented string of network appearances, performing on Ellen (October 1), The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (also October 1), Dancing With The Stars (tonight, October 2), Live with Kelly and Michael (October 4), and the Today Show (October 5.) In addition, Cher was selected for MTV's Push campaign; during the last week of September, 80 promotional spots will appear on MTV, and Cher's videos will be in heavy rotation on all of MTV's affiliated channels.
Cher's US debut single, "Want U Back," was a certified smash, generating more than 22 million YouTube views and exceeding 1.4 million in sales. It introduced Cher to legions of fans, who turned up in droves during Cher's promotional tour this summer, causing chaos in a dozen cities and proving that she's far more than a reality television star. As the New York Times noted, "(Cher is) generally redefining what a talent show contestant should look and sound like."
While Cher gained prominence in her native England as a contestant on The X Factor UK, it was her one-of-a-kind talent and take-no-prisoners attitude that kept her in the public eye. After the show, she signed with Simon Cowell's label, Syco, and went on to achieve major success in the UK, where her first single went straight to number one. The British version of Sticks + Stones, which varies from the US release, entered the UK charts at #4.
Continuing her international success Cher recently released her first signature perfume, Pink Diamond in the UK. The perfume sold at The Fragrance Store exceeded sales expectations and was created "As an iconic symbol for all of us to remember that no matter what others may say, we are all special." Cher also joins Hot Chelle Rae on tour in Australia and New Zealand kicking off in October.
