Broadway Radio Program A Night on the Town Presents COMEDY TONIGHT, Now Online 9/20

This week on the radio program, "A Night on the Town," host George Harter takes theater enthusiasts through comic relief Broadway favorites. Entitled, "Comedy Tonight," this set includes "Master of the House" from Les Miserables, "Be Prepared" from The Lion King, "Nothin' Like a Dame" from South Pacific, and many more. Each week, Harter plays an hour of Broadway songs centered around a certain theme, and he gives historical tidbits about the different shows in between songs. "A Night on the Town" is a weekly radio show that started in Kansas City and is now broadcast on public radio in several cities throughout the United States. In Kansas City, it is heard on KPR, at 91.5 FM, Saturday nights at 9. Special licensing arrangements enable them to also make the show available online for two weeks after the broadcast date. In 1980, as a part time announcer for KXTR, Kansas City's commercial classical station, George Harter began "A Night on the Town" on Saturday nights, featuring vintage Broadway show music. It was the first program of its kind in the country. "A Night on the Town" quickly became the top rated local weekend radio program. In 1998, it was picked up for distribution
by the WFMT Fine Arts Network in Chicago.

Today, "A Night on the Town" is sponsored by the historic Algonquin Hotel in New York, and reaches thousands of listeners of all ages and economic levels nationwide.
