On Sunday, October 28th, at 2:00 p.m. Centenary Stage Company will be presenting a performance by renowned jazz musician Bill Mays and The Inventions Trio in The Sitnik Theatre at the David and Carol Lackland Center.
Bill Mays has been performing nationally as a pianist and keyboardist with a variety of musical backgrounds in jazz, gospel, pop, and classical music. Over the past five decades, Mays has worked with multiple renowned artists, including Barry Manilow, Frank Sinatra, and Frank Zappa to name a feW. Mays’ keyboard compositions have also been included in numerous television shows, movie soundtracks, and talk shows including Interview With A Vampire, Rocky, CBS Early Morning, and Late Night with Jay Leno. The Inventions Trio is a musical group collaborated by Mays, trumpeter/flugelhornist Marvin Stamm, and cellist Alisa Horn. The Inventions Trio has performed nationally at festivals, colleges, and musical institutes.
According to Mays, “Whether playing Borodin or Bird, Bach or bop, the aim is to find great melodies, let the music swing, always honoring the rich traditions from which we’re drawing and building upon.”
