Benedict Cumberbatch Sings In New NEVERWHERE Clip

Olivier Award-winning stage and screen star Benedict Cumberbatch sings a melancholy little ditty in a new clip released from the forthcoming six-part radio miniseries NEVERWHERE, forcing one to ask: is there anything this ultra-talented thespian cannot do? Apparently not!

NEVERWHERE is based on the graphic novels of the same name by Neil Gaiman and starts airing tomorrow.

The "audio film" will also feature another famous film superhero byway of X-MEN star James McAvoy, in addition to Game of Thrones featured player Natalie Dormer, HOMELAND's David Harewood and DOCTOR WHO's Sophie Okonedo. Also, horror legend Christopher Lee and BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER standout Anthony Head make appearances.

NEVERWHERE is set in Neil Gaiman's weird world of "London Below", a parallel universe to "London Above" - that is, the London of the real world. NEVERWHERE was previously a TV film in 1996.

Cumberbatch previously participated in the Radio 4 broadcast of RUMPOLE AND THE PENGE BUNGALOW MURDERS in 2009 and has narrated many notable audiobooks (such as THE TEMPEST and SHERLOCK HOLMES: THE REDISCOVERED RAILWAY MYSTERS AND OTHER STORIES).

Also, renowned graphic novelist and storyteller Gaiman describes his affection for radio and the applicability of NEVERWHERE to the modern age and its audience - particularly given marquee names like Cumberbatch and McAvoy - in a new interview, stating, "I'm definitely heartened by the number of questions that I'm seeing from the UK and around the world on Twitter and on Tumblr and on Facebook... you realise they don't really know radio, but they know Benedict Cumberbatch and Bernard Cribbins and they know Doctor Who and they know me, so that's definitely helping."

NEVERWHERE starts March 16 on Radio 4 in the UK, beginning with an hourlong installment and proceeding with five half-hour shows beginning on March 18.
